Q: The software is crashing when I try to run it, what should I do?
A: Please try following the steps below, and if these don't work, contact support@lifecastvr.com.
  1. Install the latest version of Lifecast software. The latest version may at least give you a better error message instead of crashing. Download latest version here.
  2. Make sure you have CUDA version 11.3 installed. Newer versions of CUDA will not work. Download CUDA 11.3 installer here.
  3. Make sure your input is proper VR180 format. Here is an example VR180 file that is compatible. Your file MUST have a 2:1 aspect ratio exactly to be considered valid VR180 (left and right images stacked horizontally). Raw fisheye images will not work unless you also use Lifecast's calibration and a custom-tier license.
  4. On Windows, we use the GPU to accelerate processing. The default settings require at least 8GB of GPU memory. If your GPU has less memory than this, the software may crash or give an error. To fix this, try reducing the "Depth Resolution" parameter from 1280 to 512, 1024, or 1240. You want the highest number that doesn't crash (and it must be a multiple of 8).
